Structured interview questions
The same questions, in the same order, with the same scoring — plus an accommodations prompt.
Structured interviews reduce bias and are easier to accommodate.
Before the interview - Send questions or topics in writing at least 24 hours ahead when you can. - Ask: “What accommodations would help you interview at your best?” Do not wait for the candidate to bring it up. - Offer extra time, a written format, or a working session instead of a puzzle.
During - Ask the same core questions of every candidate for this role. - Score answers against a rubric, not “culture fit.” - Allow notes, pauses, and stimming. Do not police body language.
After - Write down evidence, not vibes. - If you learned an accommodation is needed for the job, start the reasonable-accommodation process — do not quietly drop the candidate.
